Ammie Brod
Ammie Brod began playing the viola at the age of eleven, when she unwittingly determined the next many years of her life based on the fact that she liked the instrument's name. After fomenting musical unrest during her high school years, she went on to receive a B.M. from the University of Arizona with Hong-Mei Xiao and an M.M. from Northwestern University with Roland Vamos as well as studying for two years with Emanuel Vardi. She spent three years as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and currently appears with many groups in the Chicago area as a freelance musician, as well as playing chamber music whenever the opportunity presents itself. Ammie was a member of the ensemble dal niente contingent attending the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music as part of the ENSEMBLE 2010 program, where the group was awarded the Kranischteiner Stipiendieum Prize.
