DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
(PART-TIME)
Ensemble Dal Niente, a leading contemporary music ensemble and Chicago-based nonprofit arts organization, seeks a Director of Development to join the ensemble’s lean artist-driven management team. The candidate must be a highly motivated and resourceful individual with an interest in contemporary music and the development of a small, innovative arts organization. The position will begin as part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) with the possibility of increasing to full-time.

With an artist roster of 21 leading specialists in contemporary music, Ensemble Dal Niente is an international award winning ensemble recognized for virtuosic, adventurous programming and advocacy of contemporary music through engaging concert formats, commissioning new works, collaborative projects, and educational programming. Job Summary
The Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director to set ambitious income goals as well as create and coordinate programs to increase the organization’s support among individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Specific Duties:
-Design and carry out strategies for cultivation and solicitation of gifts from individual donors including mail appeals, personal solicitations, phone calls, meetings, email solicitations and events
-Provide stewardship to current donors.
-Prospect research of grants, foundations, and corporations.
-Manage grant calendar and ensure all applications and reports are submitted on time
-Attend performances, staff meetings, and board meetings.
-Assist with other fundraising projects as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or higher in arts administration, non-profit management, music business, music performance, marketing, or a related field.
-Exceptional communication skills with the ability to write in a clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive manner
-Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team and thrive in a fast-paced, motivated environment
-Ability to occasionally work unusual hours, including some evenings and weekends.
-Enthusiasm for contemporary classical music and Ensemble Dal Niente’s mission.
-One to three years of development experience is desired
-Background or experience in marketing is desired
